La carrosserie de la nouvelle Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport contient du chanvre

Porsche a récemment dévoilé sa nouvelle 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Celle-ci débarque avec une version du six cylindres à plat de 3,8 litres, moteur que l’on retrouve dans la 911 GT3.  Ce puissant moteur atmosphérique développe tout de même 425 chevaux et 313 lb-pi de couple, avec un taux de compression de 12,5:1, donc il requiert de l’essence à 98 d’octane. Le tout est boulonné à une boite PDK à six rapports.

 

Cette petite bête de piste à moteur central ne pèse que 2910 livres, même avec le climatiseur et l’arceau de sécurité installés. On offre deux variantes de cette 718 Cayman Clubsport, soit la variante « Track Day » (134 000 euros ou 200 000$CAD) et la variante « Compétition » (157 000 euros ou 240 000$CAD).

La première vient avec une suspension non ajustable et un réservoir d’essence de 80 litres. La seconde vient avec une suspension ajustable, un réservoir d’essence de 115 litres, des vérins hydrauliques et un système d’extinction de feu central.

Mais Porsche affirme avoir innové de manière particulière dans ses interminables efforts visant à rendre la voiture à la fois solide et légère. En effet, on affirme que les portières et l’aileron ont été conçus à l’aide d’un mélange de lin et de chanvre, des matériaux qui, une fois jumelés à l’aide d’un procédé unique, offrent des propriétés similaires à celles de la fibre de carbone.
