The New Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Could Have 800 hp

After reading all about the 2020 Corvette Stingray, we were eager to hear about the top variants of the C8 ‘Vette and what they were going to offer their buyers. The race-inspired Z06 was one of the models we wanted to know more about, and a rumour just surfaced about what she’s going to bust out with in terms of mechanical bits.

This very credible rumour is brought to you by Automobile magazine, and it concerns the Cadillac CT6-V’s Blackwing engine. The Twin-turbo V8 could be modified and adapted to find a place at the middle of the new generation Corvette, more precisely in its Z06 variant. Chevy will probably name the powerplant LT7 – to stay away from Cadillac’s trademarks – and it is expected to pump out at least 800 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque.

Of course, the new ‘Vette has all the necessary aero, suspension and overall coolness to welcome that kind of power. Could Chevy offer a manual gearbox, as an option perhaps to go along with the Z06 longstanding tradition of dynamic driving? Let’s not get our hopes up. But that would be pretty intense.

This C8 Z06 is not expected to hit the market before late 2021 as a 2022 model, but there will be plenty of information rolling in until then, confirming or not this exciting rumour.
