A Hellcat-powered Miata is heading to auction

Monster Miatas have roamed the streets for quite some time now, and driving these ridiculous machines can be a heck of a riot, but it also can lead to death. Needless to day, theses LS-powered featherweight roadsters have enough Fast and Furious to Tokyo Drift you into the guardrail, or oncoming traffic!

Automobile Mag has found something even crazier that is heading to Barret Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in a few weeks. With Mopar offering the Hellcat engine in a crate to anybody who’s willing to swap it in whatever he or she wants, someone obviously had to have the brilliant idea of dropping one in a 1999 Mazda Miata.

As you can see, the hood had to be adapted to fit the monster powertrain, and the headlights were also changed to 2001+ Miata units for more clearance.

The 6.2-litre supercharged Hellcat engine in this “Next Gen Monster Miata” is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that transfers the monstrous torque to an 8.8 Ford rear diff. Custom suspensions were designed to handle the extra weight and these are hooked to 15×10” Konig wheels. Behind those, the builder put a set of Wilwood brakes.

This Lot# 149 has no reserve, and be sure to check it out to see how much it will be sold for.
